2025-01-01 11:16:49mischk@bunt.social-Success!For my TOTA Contacts I designed a custom QSL Card. So I also finished week 1 of #hamchallenge. HC01SIf you had a contact with me and didnt receive the QSL Card via e-mail, I was not able to find your e-mail. Just drop me a line if you like to get it.#amateurfunk #amateurradio #38c3
2025-01-01 12:03:27ei7ijb@mastodon.radio-Working on it...I'm starting on 'The 52 week ham radio challenge - 2025', picking up the 1st challenge, 'Create a QSL card design!'. The idea of collecting QSL cards from around the world is what interested me to pickup this hobby. I’m glad that there are operators and experimenters out there who are continuing the concept of a physical QSL card. I have this perfect QSL card for myself in my head and I will look to put that down on paper. #hamchallenge HC01 @hamchallenge
2025-01-01 13:21:10DL6PL@social.darc.de-Working on it...Since the new design for the QSL cards of my personal callsign won't be designed by myself, I will create a card for my trainee callsign DN1UFO as part of the #hamchallenge. I already have a few ideas... 🛸HC01 @hamchallenge
2025-01-01 15:32:32g7kse@mastodon.radio-Success!This is perhaps a bit of a cheat for but I thought I'd use it to explain it a bit.Idea pinched from Peter Saville who designed the Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures album cover (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unknown_Pleasures). Which featured a recording of a pulsar. We now have 'joy plots' which can be used for maps...or QSL cards. There are lots of online tools to create these. So I have actually sent this design to be printed and I'll have to start using them. Design, print and use is ok?HC01S
2025-01-01 17:26:47dd1mat@mastodon.social-Working on it...Let's give it a try @hamchallenge First challenge to design a QSL card as HC01 #hamchallenge Nice opportunity since my current cards display an outdated address. I probably will again go for a photo layout with landscape from my region or city. I still like to receive paper QSL cards.
2025-01-01 17:35:31ian@mastodon.radio-Success!Week 1 of the 52-week Ham Radio Challenge is to design a QSL card! I've never done real cards before, but would like to in the future - and what better than a rainy January day to do some designing. Here's my first attempt.HC01Shttps://hamchallenge.org/
2025-01-01 19:37:21DL6PL@social.darc.de-Working on it...And here is the first draft. I am not 100% satisfied, I think I need a better flying saucer. (I'm currently using a SVG of the emoji for Android devices).HC01 @hamchallenge
2025-01-01 20:55:04oe4dsr@mastodon.social-Success!Week 1 of the hamchallenge motivated me to do my first ever QSL card design. I used an AI text2image generator. #hamchallenge HC01S
2025-01-02 04:01:09N3VEM@mastodon.radio-Success!#HamChallengeHC01SSince I want to do a bit more HF this year anyway, the first week of ham challenge made sense for me to do, since my cards needed a refresh anyway.
2025-01-02 09:17:08DC4LW@social.darc.de-Success!Well, it seems I have to mention with HC01S, so that this weekly challenge will count. First week and I’m not used to the rules yet.
2025-01-02 15:23:00DK3IP@social.darc.de-Success!I just made two quick #qslcard front page designs for the #CEPT entities I tend to have most portable #QSOs from: Balearic Islands and Czech Republic. Request a card if we had such a /P QSO - they'll come via the #DARC bureau. #HamRadio #Amateurfunk #hamchallenge HC01S
2025-01-02 17:52:52pg4i@mastodon.radio-Success!#hamchallenge@hamchallengeHC01SI found a photoshop template on the website of YO6DXE a while back for a vintage QSL card. Imported this into Gimp. There is some loss in the layer information but it worked well enough once I found what fonts were used in the psd file.#morsecode
2025-01-02 20:15:14DA1EE@social.darc.de-Working on it...Feedback warmly welcome.#hamchallenge HC01
2025-01-02 21:01:21DJ5CW@social.darc.de-Success! My #hamchallenge week 1 QSL design. The front side is very similar to the card I am currently using. It shows me during my visit to the Woodpecker radar site in Ukraine in 2018. The back side is a recycled/updated version of my old LaTeX QSL template I made in 2008 or so. HC01S #hamradio
2025-01-02 23:15:57AF0AJ@mastodon.radio-Success!Let's get moving with #hamchallenge week one! I just created my actual QSL card a few weeks ago, and had them printed already. But rather than cheat, I designed an alternate for the challenge, just playing around a little with some Colorado-centric film photos I've taken. I'll post an image of the "real" one too (which is the black-and-white one).HC01S #hamradio @hamchallenge
2025-01-03 03:02:30NO5IG@mastodon.radio-Success!Digging in to the "nosignal" origins of my call.I'm thinking I'd get it made as a stamp, rough up the surface to add the "static", and use a metallic pen to add date/time/mode/freq.HC01S #hamradio @hamchallenge
2025-01-03 08:32:28N9DRB@qth.social-Success!Slowly working on a QSL card design. Been wanting to do something with this photo for a while. #hamchallenge
2025-01-03 08:36:21mike_k@mstdn.social-Success!My new QSL card! Inspired by Dieter Rams' RT20 radio, but a few steps starker than that. White instead of cream, the red frequency indicator but no soft green buttons. I was trying for the minimum number of lines that still suggested a radio, while still having the info I wanted on there. Haven't done a back. The cost of postage means this would likely only ever be emailed, but you never know. I used metric A6 dimensions in case I ever afford to print & post it.
2025-01-03 11:52:52bgarfoot@kind.social-Success!For week 1 of the #hamchallenge, my goal was to create a new QSL card specifically for my #POTA contacts. This is a photo that I took at park US-1541, and while I didn't ultimately end up activating due to antenna issues (yes, with the one pictured), I still think it captures what I love about POTA.HC01SOn to next week - figuring out IARU beacons.
2025-01-03 14:46:49DA1EE@social.darc.de-Success!I decided, that I am happy with the final design of my QSL Card HC01S #hamchallenge @hamchallengeThanks for all the feedback I received.
2025-01-03 20:05:07DK2RO@social.darc.de-Success!My take on the first hamchallenge this year. Thanks to Fabian @DJ5CW for creating this great project and everyone who contributed. As I visited the Chaos Communication Congress in Hamburg (38C3), I had the opportunity take part in the TOTA activities (Toliets on the Air). For the QSOs I did during the Congress, I created this QSL card design. HC01S #hamchallenge
2025-01-03 21:44:42n8dmt@mastodon.radio-Success!Quick (5 minute) response to Ham Challenge 2024 using QSL card generator at https://www.radioqth.net/qslcards. My apologies to those who put a lot of time and effort into generating a QSL card for this challenge. HC01S #hamchallenge @hamchallenge
2025-01-03 22:30:29DM4EA@social.darc.de-Success!HC01S spent the last days of 2024 in the Spreewald and had QRP with me, ideal occasion to create a special QSL for that, of course showing a cucumber and designed dominatly in green ;-) used Publisher for it, pretty easy and will love to send it via buro, paralleled with eQSL/ LoTW
2025-01-04 00:07:13ei7ijb@mastodon.radio-Success!I searched for the right software and finally decided to use Paintbrush for this challenge. The software was easy to use and I had no trouble in framing the details on the card. The final QSL card turned out well. #hamchallenge HC01S @hamchallenge
2025-01-04 12:20:49df5go@radiosocial.de-Success!For #SOTA and #POTA activations I like to send QSL cards with site specific pictures. However, for the Wank (https://sotl.as/summits/DL/EW-001) which I activated last year I had no good photo. So I created this design based on an old and thus now public domain map of the Alps.I might reuse this design idea in future for other summits.#hamchallenge HC01S #hamradio #amateurradio #amateurfunk
2025-01-04 18:44:20demarin@mastodon.social-Success!My first QSL card design, just in time for the first week (HC01S) of the #HAMChallenge The ~~symbolism~~ is that I grew up very close to the WSRT and very often walked the "melkweg" with my parents. I was obsessed with the telescopes and always wondered what they "hear". It was the first bit of interest in radios that I had. @hamchallenge
2025-01-04 19:26:07PA3DSB@mastodon.radio-Success!Designed on newyearsday but nearly forgot to share: My QSL for the @hamchallenge #hamchallenge HC01S #hamradio #amateurradio. To be sent to ON5UR print shortly.
2025-01-04 20:05:03dd1mat@mastodon.social-Success!HC01S Used the QSL designer of URE and will give it a try with a small batch of cards.
2025-01-04 22:11:54DF3LX@social.darc.de-Success!I struggled with the selection of the picture. Additionally, I am not really happy because of the quite dark border of the image. But at least I am now in possession of a usable design 😅 In my opinion, the front of a qsl-card should be focused on the call sign and one visual element.(Inspired by @DC4LW design:https://social.darc.de/@DC4LW/113754997004445659)#HamRadio #QSL #hamchallangeHC01S
2025-01-04 22:51:23DN9WR@social.darc.de-Working on it...My first attempt at a QSL card. Feedback appreciated. #hamchallenge @hamchallenge
2025-01-05 12:38:52DJ3CE@social.darc.de-Success!As I (finally) did my QSL card in October already, I chose to implement minor improvements and to do some design work for friends. Harder-than-thought to do something different if there's a basis, but GIMP and Inkscape have proven to be very capable tools – still learning :). Let's have a QSO so I can send you my card :). HC01S #hamchallenge
2025-01-05 14:31:09magnus@layer8.space-Success!I'm not big into graphic design but here we go, it had to be done at some point: my first ever QSL card for #hamchallenge week 1! Not quiet happy yet with how the callsign looks but still a workable draft imo. Arranged in GIMP, font is Mono from DaFont, map image from cleanPNG. Feedback on the design is welcome! HC01S
2025-01-05 16:16:56mcdanlj@social.makerforums.info-Success!Although I am waiting for sample stock to arrive to decide which stock to use for my order, I believe I have a complete design (even if I further improve it later) so I'll count this as #HC01S completed.Like @stu I started the design this past fall, but completed it during the challenge week.
2025-01-05 16:30:51K5KHK@mastodon.hams.social-Success!I’ve been using my current QSL card for years and don’t see a reason to change that, but this being the year of the #hamchallenge, I came up with a plan to use learn more about #AI and used that for my #HC01S design. I tried to incorporate my #POTA activities.
2025-01-05 16:34:31stu@gott.social-Success!Slow learner here. Re-reading the #HamChallenge info page, I'm supposed to add #HC01S to get credit for completing my QSL card. While I designed the front shortly before CY25 started, I designed the back and ordered cards during (and partly because of) the challenge. I'd say that's in keeping with the spirit of things. Shout out to ux5uoqsl.com, the Ham who's making my cards.
2025-01-05 16:36:01siwli@toot.berlin-Working on it...New QSL-Card in the making. Might not be the final design, but I used the #hamchallenge prompt HC01 to finally get started. #hamradio
2025-01-05 20:10:14DC0RD@social.darc.de-Success!My first QSL Card Design is finished. I will start now in the 52 weeks challenge. 73 Cord @hamchallenge #hamchallenge #hamradio #amateurradio #amateurfunk
2025-01-05 21:34:20DL6PL@social.darc.de-Success!Finally found a nice UFO on DeviantArt (CC BY 3.0): https://www.deviantart.com/annamae22/art/Flying-Saucer-UFO-PNG-Stock-Photo-0040-Annamae22-F-476002309HC01S #hamchallenge
2025-01-05 22:30:48DH5NN@social.darc.de-Working on it...i just recently created a qsl card design for myself (pictures attached) prior to the challenge and will not create a new one i'll actually use for the forseeable future. i don't collect qsl cards and only send them (much later) if people request them explicitly. regarding the image: a friend sent me a postcard once and changed the person in the middle (originally a woman) with a black stabilo marker to look like me with my two cats, and i like it very much hc01 #hamchallenge @hamchallenge
2025-01-06 14:18:36grnch_kc1vop@mastodon.radio-Success!Here is the QSL card I created for the #hamchallenge Week 1 challenge! Ive never sent or recieved a QSL card as of yet becuase im a newer HAM but it was a cool project for the future hopefully. The artwork is a piece I made a few years ago in #Touchdesigner I might add a QR code at some point to link to my artwork or QRZ pageHC01S
2025-01-07 19:43:23markbeech@social.coop-Success!For a belated #HamChallenge #hc01 here is an eQSL card I made earlier... Last year I made a fresh one for each pota park I activated, some featured a photo of the park but many were just simple alternating text, as it was quick and simple to create.
2025-01-08 06:15:26evanboyar@universeodon.com-Success!Just designed--with a mix of prompt engineering and good old fashioned digital editing--and ordered some QSL cards because of last week's #hamchallenge
2025-01-08 20:53:20KY4AWB@mastodon.radio-Working on it...Finally getting back into AmRad from a rather long break. Seeing the 52 week #hamchallenge gave me the boost I needed to finally get my antenna connected properly. I'm currently working on my QSL card for HC01, but hope to have it completed in a day or so. Thanks for the contest and the push I needed to get back into it!
2025-01-11 09:41:48DL6MHW@social.darc.de-Success!The QSL shows a very special moment in 2024 ... it was just after the montly meeting of our local radio club - the sky was glowing#HC01S @hamchallenge
2025-01-12 16:34:05siwli@toot.berlin-Success!Done. Finalized the design today and uploaded to the DARC QSL service. Looking forward to our new QSL cards! #hamchallenge HC01S #siwlifunk
