2025-01-01 17:26:47dd1mat@mastodon.social1Progress update...Let's give it a try @hamchallenge First challenge to design a QSL card as HC01 #hamchallenge Nice opportunity since my current cards display an outdated address. I probably will again go for a photo layout with landscape from my region or city. I still like to receive paper QSL cards.
2025-01-04 20:05:03dd1mat@mastodon.social1Success!HC01S Used the QSL designer of URE and will give it a try with a small batch of cards.
2025-01-06 00:03:52dd1mat@mastodon.social2Progress update...Started listening to the NCDXF IARU beacons via WebSDR at http://kiwisdr.com/public/ as preparation for the #hamchallenge HC02 Let's collect the data
2025-01-12 20:26:47dd1mat@mastodon.social2Success!Final day of the #hamradio #challenge to monitor as many NCDXF IARU beacons in one week as possible.I remember having used the beacons very early to detect possible band openings. This has been very useful especially in times with low solar activity and low MUF. Hearing a beacon on 10M or 12M helped detecting the higher band openings.HC02SThis week I used the WebSDR from http://kiwisdr.com/public/ but I remember also FAROS as windows application.
2025-01-19 22:07:32dd1mat@mastodon.social3Progress update...Ok, #hamchallenge HC03 update. Not yet achieved so will keep this open. @hamchallenge
2025-01-20 22:05:00dd1mat@mastodon.social4Success!#hamchallenge Week 4: Research the history of your callsign! To the best of my current knowledge, my two call signs DD1MAT and previously DO4ZN have not been in use before.Quite a rabbit hole but spent last night with reading about the history of national callsigns and #hamr #hamradio in our country. The prefix DD was introduced for amateur radio callsigns in Germany back in the 1970s. 2025-01-27 12:38:46dd1mat@mastodon.social5Success!For #HC05S I did some minor updates to my QRZ.com profile and integrated the QRZ.com logbook sync with my log software.I am working on my radio blog which is not yet online, but apart from these two, I don't update any further websites.#hamr #hamradio #hamchallenge
2025-02-10 15:10:36dd1mat@mastodon.social7Progress update...Ham Radio Challenge 2025 - Week 7: Find out which DXpeditions are active this weekMy primary source for DXpedition information is https://www.dx-world.net and its featured DXpedition timeline.Second source is the DX MB of DARC (https://www.darc.de/der-club/referate/dx/en/dxnl/).A quite useful tool I recently started to use is HamAlert (https://hamalert.org/) where I configured missing DXCCs and DXpeditions I don't want to miss.Let's see how many of them will be on my list after this week HC07@ha
